Official layout
Twenty by forty-four is the court.
The net divides the length into two 22-foot halves. Each half contains a seven-foot non-volley zone and a 15-foot service area. A centerline divides each service area into two 10-by-15-foot boxes.
A squared 20-by-44-foot rectangle has a diagonal of approximately 48 feet 4 inches from corner to corner.
Run-off space
The lines are not the project footprint.
Players need room to serve behind baselines, retreat for lobs, reach outside sidelines, enter the court, and avoid fences, walls, poles, and spectators.

What are the official pickleball court dimensions?
The official playing court is 20 feet wide by 44 feet long for both singles and doubles.
How much total space should I have?
Thirty by 60 feet is the recommended minimum playing surface. Thirty-four by 64 feet is preferred for new construction.
How large is the kitchen?
The non-volley zone extends seven feet from the net on both sides and spans the full 20-foot width, creating a total 20-by-14-foot area.
How high is the net?
The net is 36 inches at the sidelines and 34 inches at the center.
Can I make the court smaller?
A reduced area can support practice or recreational play, but shrinking the official 20-by-44-foot lines creates a non-regulation court.
How high should an indoor ceiling be?
Evaluate the lowest beams, ducts, lights, fans, and equipment across the full playing volume. Higher clear space generally improves lobs and competitive play.
